Simon Malls sponsored a weekend of events at the Burlington Mall showcasing wares from clothing stores and other vendors. “Swag Bags” of samples and coupons lured hundreds of people into lines where restaurants dished out specialty items from their menus. One of the events was Fashion Now, which consisted of a fashion runway show and a singing performance by Ayla Brown, former American Idol contestant and daughter of U.S. Sen. Scott Brown. Cecilia Marshall, wife of the late Supreme Court Justice, Thurgood Marshall spoke at the 30th anniversary of the Boston African American National Historic Site (BAANHS). In 1950, the United States Congress established BAANHS. It’s mission, in partnership with Boston’s Museum of African American History, is to preserve and interpret the historic structures and properties in Boston associated with the creation and development of a free African American community on Beacon Hill.
