Azzie Young, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Mattapan Community Health Center (MCHC), stands in front of the new 50,000-square-foot “green” facility now under construction on Blue Hill Avenue in Mattapan Square. Considered the first new construction in the square in over 50 years, the facility will house a CVS Pharmacy and a Citizens Bank. For the first time, the Center will provide mammography services on site. An expanded laboratory will allow MCHC to more efficiently run tests. In addition, MCHC will use the new space to expand pediatric, adolescent, behavioral, dental, women’s health services and other programs. (Don West photo).
