South Africa Partners' Annual Celebration

Harry Belafonte, American singer, songwriter, actor and humanitarian, will be presented with the Desmond Tutu Social Justice Award for his lifelong dedication to human rights in both the U.S and globally during South Africa Partners’ Annual Celebration. The event will also highlight the organization’s accomplishments over the past year while celebrating South Africa’s growing global position after transitioning out of apartheid into a multicultural democracy. The Annual Celebration will also recognize individuals who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to social justice in the United States and South Africa. In addition to his legacy as “King of Calypso,” Belafonte was a central figure in the USA TransAfrica effort and the ending of apartheid in South Africa. Carol Fulp, President and CEO of The Partnership, Inc., will be honored with the South Africa Partners’ Corporate Citizen Award in recognition of her outstanding service at John Hancock Financial, where she led the company’s $12 million philanthropic giving program, and her commitment to advancing public good. Special guests include South African Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Ebrahim Rasool. $250
