Chameleon Arts Ensemble performs chamber music by Brahms, Wagner, Schoenberg & Berg
Join the critically-acclaimed Chameleon Arts Ensemble for the opening of its 15th anniversary chamber music season! The young Arnold Schoenberg came of age during the twilight of Romanticism. In his earliest work he sought to combine the lush harmonies of Wagner with the masterful craftsmanship of Brahms, beginning a lifelong journey to create, in the words of his student Leon Kirchner, "a personal cosmos, a verdant world in continuity with tradition." The program includes Brahms’ Piano Quartet No. 1 in g minor, Op. 25; Wagner’s Wesendonk Lieder for soprano & piano; Schoenberg’s rarely-heard 1905 Ein Stelldichein for oboe, clarinet, violin, cello & piano; Alban Berg’s Four Pieces for clarinet & piano; and Leon Kirchner’s Duo II for violin & piano. $18-43
