LOADING DOCK SUPERVISORS

2 POSITIONS

Shift #1 – Monday – Friday, 6:00am – 2:30pm

Shift #2 – Monday – Friday, 11:00am – 7:30pm

 

Under the direct supervision of the Associate Property Manager, the Loading Dock Supervisor functions to provide loading dock access control and traffic supervision, and oversight and supervision of loading dock conditions as regards safety, cleanliness, maintenance issues.  A Loading Dock Supervisor in this position may also be re-assigned from time to time to other Loading Dock locations to substitute in the event of personnel absences or necessary holiday coverage.   

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Controls admittance to loading dock area, including interior loading dock, and "Stage Door" admittance if necessary in the absence of "Stage Door" personnel.  Controls access to and use of elevators as needed.  Works cooperatively and in coordination with neighboring Opera House personnel. 
  • Controls and supervises delivery and pickup traffic using the loading dock area.  Facilitates access to loading dock, supervises use of "dock lifts", and maintains communication and coordinates deliveries / pickups with Opera House as needed.
  • Ensures that safe and clean environment is maintained in the loading dock areas.  This includes monitoring the use of trash compactors / dumpsters, ensuring that loading dock and access are clean and passable in inclement weather.  Sweeps loading dock area as needed daily to keep area clean of discarded or windblown trash or debris.
  • Maintains log of delivery and pick up traffic, assists delivery / pickup personnel by contacting appropriate Emerson individual(s) for whom the delivery / pickup is intended.  Helps to re-direct delivery or pickup when Emerson contact cannot be contacted. 
  • In the event of an emergency evacuation the Loading Dock Supervisor serves as an EEP Exit Warden, assisting the evacuation by directing evacuees away from the building and to designated meeting sites, ensuring that egress routes through or in the vicinity of the loading dock are kept clear and that exits are functioning properly. 

 REQUIREMENTS

  • Successful completion of high school
  •  Basic computer skills, including word processing, email and typing, preferably MS Office
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Supervisory experience preferred
