I am becoming more and more distressed with the circus-like behavior of certain members of the media and the politicians who deal in negative journalism or toy with the truth while reporting current events.
It appears that the public continues to be isolated with the instant snapshot approach to the news and events of the day. It has become more and more difficult to separate truth from fiction. These days bloggers, the likes of Andrew Breitbart, radio persona like Rush Limbaugh, TV hosts like Bill O’Reilly all feed a frenetic frenzy for quick and sensational entertainment much like Jerry Springer. If this type of nonsense continues to replace the serious news commentary of the day we will become an even more misinformed public. Shirley Sherrod didn’t merit the tactless treatment by Breitbart. Let’s hope justice will be served in the end. Go truth, set us free!
What is the point of Armstrong Williams’s Sept. 2 op-ed “Let’s hear it for the girls”?
For example, Armstrong wrote: “The Democratic Party platform promotes equal social and economic outcomes with an emphasis on women’s rights and liberal social policies. These policies are designed to appeal to the disenfranchised members of society, which formerly included most women.”
What does belonging to either the Democratic or Republican Party have to do with insuring that citizens are protected against the greed of corporations and the “market” that that body of leeches so affectionately controls?
When we live in a society where women are raised to have a “sense of self” and are not compelled to behave according to the whims of men, and, consequently, are not so disrespectful toward themselves that they have no self esteem whatsoever, and buy books with insulting titles like, “Act like a lady — Think like a man,” then we’ll have legitimate political and social organizations, so the world won’t have to experience the likes of Armstrong Williams or any of these other clowns that the rulers use as their mouthpieces.
