Acclaimed drama 'The Wire' still connecting at Harvard

In its five seasons, HBO's hour-long drama "The Wire" attracted critical acclaim and a fiercely loyal fan base for its stark portrayal of the complexities of inner-city Baltimore. But since the show left the airwaves in 2008, it has continued in a new light. Harvard University -- along with other higher learning institutions such as UC Berkeley, John Hopkins, Syracuse, Brown and Duke -- are using the series as a backdrop for courses that examine the issues covered on the show. OneUnited Bank receives U.S. Treasury service award

The U.S. Treasury Department honored OneUnited Bank last week with its Bank Enterprise Award (BEA), the federal agency's highest award for community service. The BEA program is administered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund and provides an incentive to FDIC-insured banks to expand the availability of credit, investment capital and financial services in distressed urban and rural communities.?
