A legal absurdity

During the Jim Crow era, it was not unusual for African Americans to attribute even the slightest inconvenience to civil rights violations. Racial discrimination was once so pervasive that there was some rationale for that mindset. Blacks were denied access to places of public accommodation and only the menial jobs were available. Those eager for self improvement, especially in the South, were excluded from admission to colleges and universities. More »

Outstanding results

Even before Emancipation, African Americans believed that education was the road up. No one believed it was an easy road. There were too many examples of black college graduates being forced to accept menial employment. Yet, the only option was to persevere. More »

Cain and the GOP can't de-brainwash blacks

GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain dredged up the stock GOP racial attack canard that blacks are brainwashed into blindly backing the Democrats. Pat Buchanan wasted no time in jumping in and agreeing with Cain. He added the other stock GOP hit piece that the Democrats practice a modern day form of plantationism by keeping the black vote in perpetual lock down mode. More »

I wanted to end my campaign for the U.S. Senate, where it began, in front of the home where I grew up. I got in to this race for one reason and one reason only - to beat Scott Brown. And I am getting out now for one reason and one reason only - because I no longer believe I have a clear path to victory in this race. More »
