Springstep, a center for Dance & Music in Medford Square, held “African Crossroads,“ a celebration of the vibrant music of Africa and the African Diaspora, with a packed house over the weekend. The evening featured Regie Gibson & Neon Juju Band and Cornell Coley & the Sugarfoot Band. Also present were artists from the African American Master Artists in Residence Program (AAMARP) at Northeastern University, who have an exhibit of their work up at the complex. Randall L. Kennedy (l), professor of law at Harvard University listens intently to Michael J. Klarman, professor of law at Harvard University, an expert on constitutional law and constitutional history with a particular focus on race, as he gives his remarks at the Academy of Art & Sciences in Cambridge March 10. Klarman  is the author of several books and papers on civil rights and racial equality. The expectation of his remarks drew a packed audience to the event sponsored jointly by the W.E.B. Over 200 guests attended FACE Africa’s 1st Annual Gala, a Clean Water benefit.  It was held to raise awareness and funds for the organization’s clean water initiatives in Liberia.  It was held on March 20th at the Taj Hotel in Boston. Below are photos from the event. (Photo credits Amy Yanover)
