I would like to congratulate Tito Jackson, Ron Bell and Rose Arruda and the entire Jackson campaign for a fabulous come from behind win that clinched the 5th place on the City Council. What this means is that in addition to our having two persons of color duly elected to the council - Ayanna Pressley, the first woman of color and Felix Arroyo, Jr. only the second Hispanic - we have “waiting in the wings” another very competent and accomplished person of color in Jackson who amassed 30, 173 votes.
The 5th place finish on the council is a significant position.
In his second citywide campaign, then city councilor Bruce Bolling fell short and came in fifth. When Christopher Iannella passed, Bolling automatically assumed his seat. So if any one of the present citywide councilors resigns, or takes another position, or leaves for any reason, Jackson has earned the right to automatically assume the seat. Frankly, Tito has shown that he would be a strong candidate for any seat that he chose to run for.
And to Tito: Your dad is smiling down on you with pride for this awesome accomplishment.

I think it is commendable that this young entrepreneur took advantage of an opportunity to own her own business and promote healthy eating at the same time. With obesity on the rise in both adults and children, we must be ever vigilant to advocate, educate and activate healthy living for all.
