Debt: A college burden

The price tag for one year at an elite college now exceeds $50,000. The median household income in the U.S. in 2008 was $52,029. Clearly, the majority of families could not afford to pay college fees from current revenue. Students from most families must depend on scholarships, grants and loans to pay college expenses. More »

Giving back to the community

I really enjoyed the article on Hill Harper (Renaissance man, Bay State Banner, April 7) and appreciated the fact that the actor comes back to Boston often. This is what needs to start happening because way too many of our brothers and sisters make it out of Boston, yet don't come back to give back to the community that gave birth to them. More »
