What does the inauguration of the first African American
president of the United States mean to you?

I’m so excited. I was on his [Obama’s] steering committee. He will get us out of the war and help bring back prosperity, and with his good judgment, he will restore our nation’s leadership in the world.

Part of the dream has come true. In 1965, I hitchhiked to Chester, Pa., to meet and listen to a fellow named Martin Luther King Jr., who was speaking at an event. He became my role model. Today, with the inauguration of Barack Obama, I am similarly inspired!
