What role should churches play in reducing the high rates of incarceration in inner-city neighborhoods?
|We need to come out of the church, go into the streets and connect directly with the offenders and at-risk youth, and provide direct support and intervention through the church, aligned with social agencies. We must remember that we are our brothers’ keepers.
|The church needs to bridge the gulf between the body of Christ and the soul of the community to develop strategies not on how to improve the conditions of prisons, but to create programs to develop conditions to keep folks out of them.
