Why do you think young people wear their pants below their waist? |

At first I thought it was a trend or gansta fashion. But after research I found that this phenomenon started in prison by men to let other men know they’re available. |

I understand it’s their style, but for me, it’s not an attractive style because it shows their under garments. |

Disrespect. Unprofessional. I also think when I see a person walking down the street with sagging pants that he has had an incarcerated life and/or lack of self values. |

As I understood it, the general meaning is that for those incarcerated it meant one’s availability for sexual intercourse. But in the streets, it’s a different meaning. It’s about style that young teens portray to be cool. |

Immaturity. They lack the understanding that having their pants above their waist is more appealing rather than below. |

It’s nasty. It’s not gentleman-like because gentlemen carry themselves appropriately, representing himself and family. And for a woman [to allow her pants to sag far below the waist], it brings disgrace. |
