Do you think Barack Obama was wrong in distancing himself from Rev. Wright after his controversial statements at the National Press Club? |

I
agree with Obama. You know, there is a right and wrong time for
everything. Obama and Wright already talked, but [Wright] continued to
make blatant statements. There are historical things happening here.
[Wright’s] an opportunist. |

With all this controversy, Obama should have distanced himself from Rev. Wright a long time ago! | Marla Narinesing Ashley’s Waitress Dorchester |

Absolutely not. I think Rev. Wright was wrong for calling a brother out. How can someone who represents the church and black liberation theology — which claims to elevate the black man, and in this case, the most powerful position in the world — reduce this event to playing the dozens and using “your mama” jokes? | Marie Blackburn Caterer Falmouth |

No. First, [Wright] had his chance to speak his piece on PBS with Bill Moyers. I thought he used that press club for his own advantage instead of the public’s advantage. | Patricia Stovall Retired Dorchester |

No. My belief is that if [Obama] knew what kind of man [Wright] was, he would have distanced himself from him much earlier. | Seleka Manager Dorchester |

Barack Obama had no choice but to denounce Wright’s words and disassociate himself from the man. I think that it’s a tragedy that Wright, an African American himself, has jeopardized Obama’s candidacy to become the first African American president. | Kathleen Woodford Nurse Quincy |
