|Part of the dream has come true. In 1965, I hitchhiked to Chester, Pa., to meet and listen to a fellow named Martin Luther King Jr., who was speaking at an event. He became my role model. Today, with the inauguration of Barack Obama, I am similarly inspired!

|Martin Luther King said, “Only when it is dark enough can you see the stars.” With the election of President Obama, I believe that not only can we see the stars, we can aspire to be stars and overcome all obstacles with love and kindness.
|It’s amazing to me how far this country has come, from slavery to segregation to the presidency of the United States. But as the mother of two children of color, [it’s amazing] to see that anything is possible in their future.
