What can the community do to help students
improve their performance in schools?

The community needs to get involved [by] making more demands on our elected officials in providing resources that our children need in order to compete.

Both the community and church should get together and form more after-school programs.

The community can help sponsor and attend students’ … events, such as sports, art and dance, at the schools. Also, by raising money, hosting bake sales, etc., students and teachers can get specific material to help with their studies. We can also donate used books to school libraries to help expand their selection.

The government should provide programs that allow teenagers … to access places where they’re comfortable, where there are tutors and counselors that can provide education and support to them.

Try to appeal more to the kids, because just telling them that [they’re] not doing good in school will deter them more. Find the root of the problem. We need more counselors.
