Do you think civilian review boards can be
effective in curbing police abuse?

Do we have one of these?

I didn’t know that we had a Civilian Review Board!

Yes, it can if the community is part of the decision making process and that process is transparent.

A civilian review board can only be as good as its members, providing that the intention is to maintain fairness, equality and justice for all.

It could be but it’s not. They don’t have the teeth that it needs to. Everyone needs to be an honest broker.

No, it can only be effective if some of the people chosen to sit on the Board are selected from the community.

I agree with Sunshine, it will only be affective if everyone on the board is complete open minded and shows fairness all across the board. Especially for our black men, then need to be given a chance to redeem theirself to be able to provide legitimately.I would love to see this happen in the Heart of the community.Cool
