Do you believe mental health issues are neglected in communities of color?
|Of course. People of color need more attention than our counterparts because we’re the ones that are going through every conceivable social and economic injustice.
|Though there are those that are in need of mental health, there are those who in some cases are profiting from misdiagnosing our people.

|Yes. Because there are as many people who are walking around undiagnosed and they’re affecting their families, their community and their own growth.
|Yes. Definitely. If we’re going to get real assistance, we need more counselors who look like us and are from the community that understand the challenges that the community has.
|Yes, absolutely. I think it will cut down on a lot of the problems that we have in our community in regards to drinking, drugs, etc. People are self-medicating.
|It’s the main issue in our community. It’s very important to dig into the mental health issues. Support should be there from the moment the child acts up. It’s not a jail, DYS issue, it’s a mental health issue.
