Do you agree with the NAACP that childhood obesity is a civil rights issue? |

The differences in obesity rates based on race, ethnicity and poverty means that fighting obesity is directly related to the NAACP’s goals. |

I agree with the NAACP on this issue because I see the difference in the foods in the suburbs compared to the urban supermarkets. |

Obesity should be a civil rights issue. Health is a big factor when it comes to obesity. We have kids as young as 10 with diabetes and that is just wrong. |

The NAACP has always fought against inequalities. I don’t believe the government should tell people what to eat, but if the NAACP is taking on this issue to make corporations responsible for the quality of food they distribute, I agree that they should take this on as a civil rights matter. Diabetes and obesity are a big issue in the Latino and African American community, and it’s a statistic that needs to change. |

I agree because obesity is more common in African American communities. African American women have the highest rates of being overweight. By being obese you are more likely to have other health issues such as type 2 diabetes (which is also common in African Americans). So there needs to be more discussion on putting a stop to obesity. |

I believe the NAACP should take on the issue of obesity as a civil rights issue. Obesity is taking over our families. Obesity can hurt you and others emotionally and physically. |
