What do you think should be the community’s
role in improving Boston’s schools?

Parents need to help their kids with their school work.

It starts from the home. Parents have to teach their children more. You can’t rely on teachers to teach children everything.

We need more community involvement and more parental participation.

We do have a vote. We can vote things in and vote things out. We need to vote people in office who want to change things in our schools.

Community residents should monitor the schools, attend parent meetings, find out how the money is flowing and where the services are going.

The key to improving schools is to get parents involved. My daughter goes to the Burke. Getting parents involved is very difficult.

Very important issues need to be addressed. Parent involvement it should be mandatory that parents make meetings.  I know as a single parent I cant make all the METCO meetings. Believe me you I am incontact with every major subject teacher that my child has. Sometimes parents are a direct result on what is happening at home and school.
