Boston native Dr. Nancy Norman, an expert in preventive medicine, recently joined The Dimock Center’s medical staff as an adult medicine provider.

As part of the center’s plan to make accessing quality health care more convenient, Norman addresses a wide range of internal medicine issues and provides vital urgent care to the center’s patients on Tuesday evenings.

“Dr. Norman is a wonderful addition to a diverse, highly-skilled team of medical providers,” said Dr. Myechia Minter-Jordan, chief medical officer for The Dimock Center. “She brings with her a wealth of expertise from her experiences in public health and as a respected primary care physician.”

A graduate of Bowdoin College, Norman received her medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine and later earned a master’s degree in public health from the Harvard University School of Public Health. Norman has also completed a clinical fellowship in community-oriented primary care and preventive medicine at Carney Hospital.

In addition to her medical practice, Norman dedicates much of her time and energy to participation in a wide range of community and professional organizations. She has served on the executive boards of Men of Color Against AIDS, the Boston Public Health Commission, and Casa Myrna Vasquez, a statewide nonprofit organization committed to serving women of color who are the victims of domestic violence.

Norman is also actively involved with the Committee to Advance the Health of Minority Women at the National Center of Excellence of Women’s Health at Harvard Medical School.

From its nine-acre campus in Roxbury and satellite locations throughout Boston, The Dimock Center provides services and programs to thousands of Boston residents and families each year, including adult and pediatric medicine, eye and dental care, HIV/AIDS services, child and family development, behavioral health, and adult education.
