Sharon Scott-Chandler

Sharon Scott-Chandler has been named Executive Vice President of the Action for Boston Community Development Inc.

Scott-Chandler fills the number two position at the Boston-area antipoverty agency and largest human services program in New England. She will play a key role in overseeing ABCD’s wide array of human services programs.

A vital member of the ABCD leadership staff since 1999, she has served as Vice President, ABCD Head Start and Children’s Services since 2003. Prior to joining ABCD, Scott-Chandler served as an Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Scott-Chandler received her degree from Northeastern University Law School and her bachelor’s degree in political science from Tufts University. She is a member of the Board of Directors for Project Hope, Northeastern School of Law Alumni Association, and the Massachusetts Black Lawyers’ Association, among others. In 2007, Governor Deval Patrick named her Chair of the Board of the Massachusetts Early Education and Care Department.

ABCD President/CEO John J. Drew said he is delighted that Scott-Chandler will be filling the critical position. “Sharon is highly respected for her leadership in the child care and human services community in Boston and nationwide,” Drew said. “I know she will do an outstanding job in this position.”
