ARCK aims to restore love for arts with A HeART for Art event
A Heart for Art fundraiser to support arts programs in the Boston Public Schools.

Art Resource Collaborative for Kids is teaming up with Haley House and local businesses and to raise awareness and advocate for arts education in Boston Public Schools.

People of all ages are invited to the organization’s “A HeART for the Arts” on the Boston Common near Earl of Sandwich from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 7.

There will be tables filled with art supplies for attendees to paint a heart that will be displayed in the windows of local businesses over the next several weeks to promote arts and culture in the city.

The organization is also incorporating social media into the community event.

Businesses who participate will choose a day to tweet and post about #AHeartForArt, and use the occasion to donate a portion of the day’s sales to ARCK.

Those who paint hearts during the event and the curious can figure out where the heart ends up by following the #FollowMyHeart on Twitter.

This week Haley House baked heart-shaped cookies and sold them at the Roxbury bakery.

Proceeds from the cookies will be donated to ARCK.

ARCK is a nonprofit organization that aims to generate art opportunities for kindergarten through eighth grade students in underserved Boston Public Schools.

The organization’s mission is to empower students with high quality arts education that fosters culture and community while also supporting a school’s learning objectives.

Ben and Jerry’s is co-sponsoring the event Saturday and will provide free ice cream.
