Justin Williams has been named vice president and chief development officer for Boston Medical Center, overseeing philanthropy at New England’s largest safety net hospital.

Williams has served as interim chief development officer since November 2020. Williams joined BMC in 2013 and rose through the ranks in a number of roles focused on fostering corporate partnerships and new streams of philanthropic revenue.

“Since taking over the role of interim chief development officer, Justin has demonstrated the talent, qualities and commitment needed to continue to lead the department and evolve our philanthropic program to the next level,” said Kate Walsh, president and CEO of Boston Medical Center. “Justin is passionate about the impact that our philanthropic efforts have on the patients and communities we serve, and with the continued support of our community partners, we have the ability to transform our patients’ lives.”

The Office of Development supports a wide range of innovative patient programs and supports, as well as advances in research, clinical treatment, facilities and patient equity.

“As we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the merger that created Boston Medical Center, our mission as a hospital that cares for anyone in need remains as essential as ever for the communities we serve,” Williams said. “The COVID pandemic has exacerbated the disparities that many of our patients face, but it has also given us a chance to rethink what health care and equity truly means. I look forward to working closely with our generous benefactors in support of BMC’s vision for healthy, thriving communities.”

Before coming to BMC, Williams worked in radio sales focusing on partnerships with large national corporations and in athletic marketing at Boston College, the University of Connecticut and St. John’s University. He is a graduate of Ithaca College, an America’s Essential Hospitals 2018 national fellow, and a member of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Future Leaders class of 2016.
