Trump’s disregard for American democracy

Trump’s disregard for American democracy
“Since most voters won’t support Republican negativity, Trumpites want to destroy democracy.”

Blacks have been aware over the years that the objective of governmental action is rarely to benefit them. When President Barack Obama passed the Affordable Care Act on March 23, 2010, racist political foes demeaned its significance by calling it Obamacare, and conservatives campaigned to prevent public acceptance of the provision of health care that was common in all modern industrial countries. But despite the negativity, an estimated 13.8 million Americans of all races now receive health care from the ACA. Yet the white working class has still not learned they should not rely on the lies of the Trumpites.

Even though Trump is believed by many people to be psychologically unstable, his followers seem to be indifferent to the hazards he creates. Trump seems to believe that as a former president he is entitled to take home from the White House government documents that are “top secret” and contain serious government information and risks. When Trump failed as requested to return those documents that belong to the U.S. government, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland issued a search warrant for the FBI to collect the missing items from his house.

In the past, people could laugh at Trump’s antics, but when he has demonstrated a great admiration and close friendship with Vladimir Putin, the brutal president of Russia, Americans should not feel comfortable with Trump holding the nation’s secrets, especially the codes for atomic warfare and the identity of undercover agents.

Surprisingly, some whites have not yet shown the level of concern appropriate for the risks created by Trump’s misconduct. The unmitigated lying has been tolerated. Now they accept Trump’s defiance of traditional patriotism, even while he retains secret U.S. information that would benefit the nation’s enemies.

This is unacceptable for many Blacks, who have endured suffering and racial discrimination because of the belief that achievement of freedom, justice and equality is the national objective and is sought by all. It is a painful conclusion for Blacks that these high objectives have become less realistic because of the hostility of the so-called Trumpites.

One wonders what the reaction will be when Blacks realize from the primary election results that many whites no longer respect America as a democratic republic.
