Boston Scenes 5-10-18: Whittier Street Health Center’s 2018 Roast of Sam Kennedy!

“On April 24, 2018, Whittier Street Health Center held their 2018 Roast of Sam Kennedy, President and CEO of the Boston Red Sox. The fundraiser took place at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel from 5:30 pm to 9 pm. The evening was emceed Karen Holmes Ward of WCVB, CityLine Host, and featured live music, a silent auction, a world premiere of Whittier’s latest promotional video, and the friendly roasting of the honoree by a few friends of Sam Kennedy. Guests at the gala were treated to dinner to accompany the entertainment. The venue was decked out in true Red Sox style with vases filled with baseballs on each of the tables and ice cream served in plastic helmets sporting the Red Sox logo. Overall, the event was a success, raising funds for Whittier Street Health Center to support the work done by the center, providing affordable, comprehensive and compassionate care to the residents of Roxbury, Dorchester, and Mattapan. Services at Whittier range from urgent care to dental to behavioral health and beyond. Nights like that of the Roast are essential to keeping the lights turned on and the beacon of hope lit. We are deeply appreciative of the contributions made.”
