For the fifth consecutive year, small business owners and community leaders came together with Eastern Bank at Darryl’s Corner Bar & Kitchen to celebrate small business owners and their community impact during May’s Small Business Month. The event marked the opening day of Eastern Bank’s new Roxbury Branch, the first bank branch in 20 years to open in Roxbury. The night also marked the one-year anniversary of launching the Business Equity Initiative (BEI). BEI was developed to mitigate growing inequality by combining business growth, supplier partnerships and community transformative development as a means of addressing growing wealth and income inequality in Massachusetts.
