Boston Scenes 6-23-18: The Boston Art & Music Soul (BAMS) Festival
Created by Boston native Catherine Morris, BAMS Fest, Inc. has presented and curated in over 10 local spaces in varying neighborhoods to more than 2,500 attendees and collaborated with more than 50 community partners through its traveling live arts program, The Prelude.
BAMS Fest, described by Morris as “Essence [Music Festival] meets Afropunk in Boston” took place June 23, 2018 at Playstead Field in Franklin Park on two stages. BAMS Festival featured a predominately Boston-based lineup of 20+ musical acts including area natives Latrell James, Oompa, and STL GLD; and Berklee affiliated acts Dom Jones, Niya Norwood, The Woo Factor Band AND MORE! Neo-soul duo from Philadelphia, Kindred the Family Soul, headlined the festival.
