Department Summary:

Position Summary:

 

Responsible to assist in the planning, organizing and directing of the Athletics and Recreation program including coordinating all fiscal operations of the department including budget development and supervision, fundraising initiatives, and ticketing

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Associate Vice President for Athletics and Student Wellness

 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Assists in supervising subordinate professional, classified, coaching staff and student employee personnel assigned to the area. Directly supervise and evaluate Head and Assistant Equipment Managers.

 

This is an exempt, APA unit position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.

Essential Duties:

 

  • Utilize diversity and social justice practices to promote student success as it relates to your core duties.
  • Utilizing equity minded practices, serve as a member of the departments leadership team to assists in the planning, organizing and directing the Athletics and Recreation Programs at the University.
  • Assist the Office of Equal Opportunity /Title IX Coordinator office as a responsible employee with regard to incidents of sexual or gender-based harm or discrimination.
  • Monitors all purchasing contracts and other budgetary items for both Athletics and Recreation while ensuring compliance with University, Conference and NCAA policies.
  • Serves as the department liaison with budgeting offices within Student Affairs, Fiscal and Procurement.
  • Responsible for planning, coordinating, and evaluating annual athletic advancement events and department-wide fundraising initiatives such as the Crimson Pride Challenge and the Crimson Pride Classic Golf Tournament.
  • Maintains oversight of team-specific fundraising initiatives such as off-site opportunities (Gillette Stadium, etc.) to ensure compliance with University, Conference and NCAA policies.
  • Through an equity lens, assists with the recruitment, selection and orientation of professional staff for the Athletics program. Assists with the evaluation of personnel in accordance with the applicable procedure at the University.
  • Manage the University ticketing platform, including football, basketball and post-season events.
  • Assist in supervising the preparation of annual reporting documents including the department annual report, the EADA report, and NCAA Sports Sponsorship submissions.
  • Plan and implement assessment efforts that inform data driven decision making for the programs, services and activities within your core duties.
  • Develop and implement intentional programs, services and activities within your core duties that will meet the unique needs of all student populations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Minimum of three to five years progressively responsible experience in athletics and recreation programs
  • Demonstrated ability in effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented
  • Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks, including meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of University, Conference and NCAA eligibility regulations and protocols as required
  • Ability to work evening, weekends, and holidays as playing and practice season schedule dictates.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. with appropriate accommodation
  • Ability to manage multiple budgets utilizing Excel and other programs
  • Comfortable learning new software programs

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Master’s Degree in related field
  • Experience in intercollegiate athletics and recreation programs
  • Experience with FrontRush and BANNER networking software
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license preferred
