Assistant Town Clerk

(Full Time 35 Hours per week)
The Town of Easton is accepting applications for a qualified individual to fill the position of full time Assistant Town Clerk. The Assistant Town Clerk assists the Town Clerk with statutory duties and responsibilities of the department in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws, Town Charter, Town Bylaws and regulations.
The preferred candidate has an Associate’s Degree; three years’ experience in a responsible clerical or administrative position; experience with elections and strong customer service background is preferred; or any or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Massachusetts Notary Public designation required within 90 days of appointment. The successful candidate must have a valid driver’s license and must provide proof of an acceptable driving record from the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing general information to the public, issuing licenses, permits and certificates, swearing in officials, tracking boards and committees, posts meetings and schedules meeting rooms, collection & turnover of fees, maintaining legal records, vital records, planning & zoning filings, and participation in all phases of elections/town meetings, including voter registration, census data management and certification of nomination papers and petitions.
Candidate must possess strong communication & customer service skills; excellent organizational skills; ability to multi-task & produce detailed work; must have strong computer skills, including intermediate to advance excel knowledge and comfort with multiple database management programs.
This is a union position with excellent benefits and municipal pension system. Step 1 is $30.078 per hour. The anticipated hiring range is $30.078 – $32.878 per hour ($54,741.96 – $59,837.96 if annualized) depending on qualifications.
