(Full Time 35 Hours per week)
The Town of Easton is accepting applications for a qualified individual to fill the position of full time Office Assistant for the Department of Planning & Economic Development. The Office Assistant has frequent contact with the general public as well as applicants to the Planning & Zoning Board, Conservation Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals. The Office Assistant is responsible for assisting the Director of Planning and Economic Development with administrative duties to support the operations of the department in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws, Town bylaws and regulations.
Duties include but are not limited to attendance at evening meetings, transcribing minutes at least two times per month; attends meetings of the Conservation Commission, Economic Development Council and ad hoc committees; and provides back up for meeting of the Planning & Zoning Board. Posts public meeting agendas, produces minutes and maintains familiarity with remote meeting technology. High proficiency in using Microsoft Office software and web applications; review of applications for completeness and accuracy; drafting correspondence, board decisions, legal notices, documents and forms for review by supervisor. Schedules hearings, drafts legal notices and notifies applicants and abutters.
Recommended Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma, Associates Degree preferred. Thorough knowledge of office procedures, practices and terminology. Candidate must have excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills. Experience with Conservation and Planning & Zoning permitting preferred but not required; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
This is a union position with excellent benefits and municipal pension system. Step 1 is $28.503 per hour; anticipated hiring range is $28.503 – $31.157 per hour ($51,875.72 – $56,706 annual salary) depending on qualifications.
