The Assistant Director of Community Engagement within Nuestra CDC supports the organization’s mission, vision, and values by facilitating and presenting projects related to the Roxbury artist community and deeply engaging Roxbury residents. This is a permanent position, up to 25 hours per week.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

In addition to essential management and personnel functions, S/he must provide expert collaborative leadership with external arts organizations and internally with Resident Services and Community Engagement team. S/he Is accountable for all aspects of Oasis Park operations, such as scheduling rentals, events and. In addition, the Assistant Director must maintain close contact and collaboration with arts organizations in Roxbury and Greater Boston. The position will lead production and logistics operations for Oasis Park.

Along with her/his regular duties, s/he will assist the Executive Director with organization and board administration.

Additionally, this individual will be required to:

  • Demonstrate commitment to diversity and cultural competence with the ability to work with and support diverse communities.
  • Represent Nuestra/Oasis to the Roxbury and Greater Boston arts community
  • Create operational plans that determine staffing and technical needs, the operating budget, and marketing/advertising plans in collaboration with the K Weill group
  • Secure artists and performers for events, contract and manage artist and performer contracts, and plan and coordinate all aspects of Oasis operations.
  • Manage to license and permits for entertainment, food, and place of assembly
  • Other tasks and responsibilities that support the delivery of services

Work Requirements and Qualifications

Bilingual Skillsthe ability to speak, translate, and write English and Spanish is highly desirable. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree or graduate-level (or equivalent experience) in arts and similar venue management.

Communication: Communicates with the public, artists, arts associations or representatives, other Nuestra/OppCo employees, management, contractors, and local and regional public officials to facilitate planning and problem-solving, present policy issues, and accomplish primary job tasks. Prepare written documents such as reports to management, correspondence, media releases, scripts, program brochures, action plans, and program contracts.

Physical Requirements                                                                                                                                  

The position involves sitting, standing, lifting, looking at a computer screen, phone work, etc. The physical demands described represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.
