NOTICE TO BIDDERS

Electronic proposals for the following project will be received through the internet using Bid Express until the date and time stated below, and will be posted on www.bidx.com forthwith after the bid submission deadline. No paper copies of bids will be accepted. Bidders must have a valid digital ID issued by the Authority in order to bid on projects. Bidders need to apply for a digital ID with Bid Express at least 14 days prior to a scheduled bid opening date.

Electronic bids for MBTA Contract No. W91CN01 UNIVERSITY PARK/ROUTE 128 GARAGE RESTORATION PROJECT, DEDHAM, MASSCHUSETTS, (CLASS 1, GENERAL TRANSIT CONSTRUCTION, $5,000,000 AND CLASS 7 – BUILDINGS, $10,000,000, PROJECT VALUE $10,566,7360 can be submitted at www.bidx.com until two o’clock (2:00 p.m.) on Thursday April 29, 2021. Immediately thereafter, in a designated room, the Bids will be opened and read publicly.

Work consists of the following: Repairs and egress upgrades to the MBTA Route 128 Garage, a four-story structure with a structural steel framing system and precast concrete double tee floors. The garage has 3 supported levels. The repair work includes, but is not limited to, partial and full depth concrete deck repairs including shear connector repairs, application of waterproofing membrane and silane sealer, replacement of joint sealant, replacement of expansion joints, selective replacement of floor drains and plumbing piping, replacement of existing light fixtures and selective conduit replacement, and replacement of control panel and transformer in the emergency electric room. Additionally, the work consists of accessibility and egress upgrades that includes, but is not limited to, a new exterior four-story steel framed stair tower, replacement of existing stair railings, accessibility and egress striping and signage, modifications to the accessible entrance, and a new headhouse at Stair #2.

Bidders attention is directed to Appendix 1, Notice of Requirement for Affirmative Action to Insure Equal Employment Opportunity; and to Appendix 2, Supplemental Equal Employment Opportunity, Anti-Discrimination, and Affirmative Action Program in the specifications. While there is no DBE goal associated with this contract, the Authority strongly encourages the use of Minority, Women and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises as prime contractors, subcontractors and suppliers in all of its contracting opportunities. Bidders will affirmatively ensure that in regard to any contract entered into pursuant to this solicitation, minority and female construction contractors will be afforded full opportunity to submit Bids and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, religion, sex, age, or national origin in consideration for an award.
