REPAIRS TO BRIDGES ON DEAN STREET INDUSTRIAL TRACK

Mass Coastal Railroad is accepting sealed bids for work on bridges on the Dean Street Industrial Track. The project is funded by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, Rail and Transit Division (MassDOT).This Invitation for Bids is issued pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 30, §39M.

THE PROJECT: On the Dean Street Industrial Track bridge at MP 3.44 over the Taunton River, repair sandbag cofferdam, if needed; install erosion & sediment controls; install a new timber bulkhead in front of south abutment; install 3 new helper stringers; and replace one 30’ timber stringer in spans 15-17 including new clip angles. Bridge repairs at MP 3.19 over the Taunton River include new timber bearing block assemblies at 2 locations. Remove all floating wood debris; dispose of removed material; and remove cofferdam. Contractor must show evidence of having worked on an active railroad and was able to complete the work with no or few shutdowns and no impacts to Operations. Construction cost estimate is $347,200.

Bidders must provide the following information to be considered qualified to perform the work:

  1. List of equipment which will be used including hi-rail equipment;

  2. Completed Bid Bond in the amount of 5% of the Total Bid Price;

  3. List of all work within the last 3 years of similar size and scope demonstrating Bidder’s experience and qualifications for this project as described above;

  4. List of ongoing projects and 3 references from projects listed; and

  5. Approved FRA drug and alcohol testing plan.

A mandatory pre-bid meeting and site tour will be held on Thurs., February 1, 2018, 10:30 a.m. All interested bidders shall meet at 131 Arlington St., (Girls Inc. building & parking lot.) in Taunton. Please RSVP to Rob Finley at rcfinley@verizon.net.

Bids will not be accepted from bidders who do not attend the pre-bid meeting. Sealed Bids must be delivered to Mass Coastal Railroad, 3065 Cranberry Highway, Ste. 5, East Wareham, MA 02538, by Thurs., February 15, 2018, 2:00 p.m. Bids will be publicly opened forthwith after the bid submission deadline at the Mass Coastal Railroad office, 3065 Cranberry Highway, Ste. 5, East Wareham, MA.
