Back in March, the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the government agency responsible for funding museums and libraries across the nation was gutted along with several other agencies by an executive order. The agency’s entire staff was put on administrative leave shortly after.

Youth Orchestra and Museum of African American History celebrate King through music
Over 20 years ago, the Museum of African American History and the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras came together to put on a concert in honor of civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr. Beverly Morgan-Welch, the museum’s director at the time, called on the youth ensemble to perform the tribute at the African Meeting House.

MAAH Stone Book Award honors three authors of African American histories
Three books — a chronicle of Black Wall Street and biographies of W.E.B Du Bois and scholar Merze Tate — are the recipients of this year’s MAAH Stone Book Award, a collaboration between the Museum of African American History and the James M. and Cathleen D. Stone Foundation that recognizes scholars whose work explores facets of African American history across the country.
