One of the most popular adages in life holds that “Behind every great man, there is a great woman.” I was always conflicted about that, because I have known far too many women who stand shoulder-to-shoulder with successful men, and, in some cases, stand in front, leading the way for men to succeed in life. Such is the case with Trent Ronald Forbes.

Boston has paid its last respects to Calvin Davis, one of the finest athletes the state has produced, who left this world at the comparatively young age of 51. He leaves a legacy that brings pride and distinction to his family and friends.

Boston hosted the world’s top track and field tour this week for New Balance’s Indoor Grand Prix. For its first 24 years, the elite pro event was held at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center (RLTAC) at Roxbury Community College. But that run is over, likely never to return to Roxbury.
